On Today’s Eclipse
Consider these two things as you reflect on today’s eclipse, friends:
The Sun and Moon appear the same size in the sky. This allows for the total solar eclipse we saw today. That means…
– If the Sun was a little smaller or bigger, or
– If the Sun was a little further away or closer, or
– If the Moon was a little smaller or bigger, or
– If the Moon was a little further away or closer…
…we would not have been able to see the eclipse like we did today. (On Mars when its moons pass by it’s like the Sun has a freckle.) Also, it is because of a total solar eclipse Einstein’s Theory of General Relativity was able to be proved in 1919.
My point? It take more faith to believe this is a “happy coincidence,” as one scientist claimed, than to believe God designed this and desires we know deeply about the universe.
ALSO, there were clouds predicted and present over the majority of the line of totality. I assure you thousands of Christians joined me in praying for the skies to clear, and you will here reports of clouds breaking at just the right moment all across the country. I take that as an answered prayer by the God who loves us. If He loved you enough to die for you, why not part some clouds to give us a “core memory.”
You are free to think these two things–the equality of the size of the Sun and Moon in the sky, and the breaking of clouds at just the right moment for millions to see–as mere happenstances or coincidences. Me? I take it them as signs that God loves us and wants us to be happy.
What will you take them as? Happy thinking!
The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork. (Psalm 19:1)
For [God’s] invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So [all] are without excuse. (Romans 1:20)
