The Church and The Big Idea
Given Matthew 7:13-14, I believe, let us consider all persons on earth and identify them into two categories: the saved Church, either currently or eventually, and the unsaved, those who will not accept salvation through the finished work of Jesus on the cross. I think Jesus called these two kinds the wheat and the husks, or weeds.
You can also consider the Church as those currently saved, those eventually to be saved, those in heaven, and we will not consider much the fourth group: those yet to be born and will be saved.
In other words, the entire Church on earth are comprised of those aware they are saved and those who aren’t aware. We are not united in multiple ways and according to Matt 24:14 and Mark 13:10, will not see the return the return of our Lord until we are all united in all fronts. The “gospel being proclaimed as a testimony to all nations” is exactly that: the complete unity of the Church on Earth. We must first unite in message the scattered Big C Church, then, or perhaps simultaneously, unite in mission through fulfilling the Great Commission commanded by Jesus in Matt 28:19-20. Then will all the Church on earth truly be united and then, and I believe only then, will our Lord return.
This is the Big Idea and Great Solution to all problems, both earthly and eternal. Come Lord Jesus, come. Amen.
